Meditation Retreats

We offer weekend retreats at the Himalayan Institute, in Honesdale, PA.

These retreats include:

Yoga Classes – Start the day with yoga taught by Himalayan Institute staff.

Amazing Food – Three fantastic meals a day based on a tridoshic, Northern Indian, vegetarian model.

Outdoor Recreational Activities – Enjoy guided light hiking on the Institute’s trails and experience the stunning beauty of all four seasons in the Poconos. There is also free time to enjoy the grounds and facility on one’s own, including booking treatments and massages at the health center.

Meditation – The weekend revolves around receiving instruction in meditation fundamentals, practicing meditation techniques, and group discussions.

Plan to leave from on a Friday afternoon, arriving by 5 pm if possible. Car pooling is often available. In light traffic and with a rest stop, it is a 3 hour drive from the Philadelphia area if you can leave before 2 p.m.. We spend Friday and Saturday night, and return Sunday after lunch. Some meditation experience is recommended but not necessary in order to participate. If one is a complete beginner, and lives in the Philadelphia area, booking a private meditation lesson in advance of the retreat is a possibility.

Accommodations and meals are booked through the Himalayan Institute.
Entry level room and board is $95 per night.

7-8 am Asana Class
7:30-8:30 am Breakfast
8:30-9:00 Individual Help With Seated Pose Available (sunset room)
9-11 am Instruction and Practice (sunset room)
11:15-12:15 pm Hike (easy walk, mostly even ground)
12:30-2 pm lunch
2-3 pm free time
3:00-3:45 pm Hike (trail through the woods, some uneven ground)
3:45-4:15 pm Asana and Pranayama (sunset room)
4:15-5 pm Meditation (Sri Vidya Shrine)
5:00-6 pm Group Discussion (sunset room)
6-7 pm Dinner
7:30-9:30 Instruction and Practice (sunset room)
